Nobody builds one of these projects unadvised. What follows is the national layer; the municipal desks are the ones that get you land, and they are listed separately.
- Wohnprojekte-Portal (run by Stiftung trias) — the central database: 814 Wohnprojekte and 68 Berater*innen, plus knowledge sections on group process, building, law and finance. Free: “Hier findest du kostenlos aktuelle Wohnprojekte, Wissen rund ums gemeinschaftliche Wohnen und Beratungsangebote.” Start here.
- FORUM Gemeinschaftliches Wohnen e.V. (Bundesvereinigung, Hannover, with regional offices) — the national membership association: advice to groups and to the housing industry, a Projektbörse, and the WIN and AGIL portals. Membership is paid; the fee is not published on the site.
- wohnbund e.V. — Verband zur Förderung wohnpolitischer Initiativen: research, publications, policy work and a member network of planners and co-ops. Membership organisation, aimed at professionals more than at single groups.
- Stiftung trias — advice, publications, a Weiterbildung for Projektberater*innen, small grants (€500–€5,000) and the land route via Erbbaurecht.

Detail
- Mietshäuser Syndikat — regionale Beratung — free, peer-to-peer, and regionalised: “Beratung … [wird] immer häufiger von Menschen aus den Projekten vor Ort und den Regionalen Koordinationen übernommen”, with contacts for Dresden, Leipzig, Thüringen, Berlin/Brandenburg, Nord, NRW, Hessen, Rhein-Main, Tübingen, Freiburg and Bayern. It presumes you intend to join the Verbund.
- STATTBAU (Berlin) — Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft that runs the Land’s free Erstberatung desk, see berlin-netzwerkagentur-generationenwohnen.
- id22: Institute for Creative Sustainability — CoHousing Berlin/Cultures, publications, excursions, and Germany’s first Community Land Trust initiative.
- Genossenschaftsverbände — for anyone founding an eG, the Prüfungsverband is not optional and is also the first serious plausibility check: genossenschaft-pruefungsverband.
- Money for advice itself — rare, and worth knowing about: schleswig-holstein-wohnprojekte-gruendungsfonds pays up to €15,000 at 90 % for the pre-project phase (expert reports, organisational and legal expertise) to an Initiatorengruppe as a GbR or Vorgenossenschaft, and rheinland-pfalz-anschubfoerderung-wohnprojekte is the closest comparator elsewhere. Founding costs of an eG are a different matter: Baden-Württemberg paid the Pflichtgutachten and Gründungsprüfung, but that offer ended on 31 December 2023 (baden-wuerttemberg-buergschaft-wohnungsgenossenschaften), so budget the Prüfungsverband’s fees as the group’s own cost.
- Municipal desks (free, and the ones with access to land): hamburg-agentur-fuer-baugemeinschaften, muenchen-mitbauzentrale, leipzig-netzwerk-leipziger-freiheit, koeln-mitstadtzentrale, frankfurt-netzwerk-gemeinschaftliches-wohnen, bremen-koordinierungsstelle-baugemeinschaften, berlin-netzwerkagentur-generationenwohnen.
- Open question (not a fact): FORUM and wohnbund publish no membership fee and no price list for group advice; assume paid consultancy rates beyond a first conversation.
