The Xunta’s 2026 VI406I Cooperation Fund is open to Galician municipalities, not directly to a cooperative. The 6 April–15 October 2026 application window is currently open as of 5 October and closes at 14:00, subject to available fund credit. It provides recoverable financing to municipalities for protected new-build housing promotion, urbanisation that creates serviced protected-housing plots, and land acquisition; a town may develop directly or through another public/private promoter. The municipality applies electronically and signs a convention with IGVS. Repayment is set in that convention, may not exceed eight years, and annual repayment must be at least 10% of the transferred total.
For a cohousing group this is an indirect route: approach a municipality able to sponsor/acquire/urbanise the site and structure a separate public-private development or land-right award. Winning municipal funding does not itself award land or make the group a direct recipient. Confirm protected-housing requirements and the proposed promoter/right with the municipality and IGVS before committing to the group structure. This is Galicia’s own 2026 instrument, not a regional call under the national cooperative-housing articles; see es-national-cooperative-collaborative-housing. The separate VI501B rural youth ownership grant is individual/household only: es-galicia-rural-young-home-aid.
